DIVINE SCHOOL
Dharmapuri Colony, Uppal, Hyderabad.
Divine School is started by Sri Upendra Mallik, a retired employee of "Survey of India", uppal branch. He was inclined to provide free education to the poor and needy children. He started the school with his pension money in his own building. He started teaching few students from nearby slum area. He was supported by another retired person, who took only conveyance charges for travel. They have taught for more than ten years without much success. They had around 30 to 40 children by 2007.
ARROW visited this school in June 2008. We decided to support this noble cause and educate as many poor children as possible through this school. We conducted "Enrolment program" and visited the nearby slum areas. The parents are daily wage labourers, who could just earn a little for their survival. We convinced the poor parents to send their children to school.
Due to various efforts from ARROW and with the support of TWO other friendly groups, at present 3 teachers are appointed in Divine School for nominal salaries. 90 students are receiving free education from that school. Books, uniforms, shoes etc are also being donated from time to time
There is a scope to educate many more children in this school. It can accomodate around 300 students from classes Nursery to Class VII. However, we need to appoint more teachers for doing the same. Divine school is doing genuine service by offering free education to very poor and needy students. Any help or support from individuals or organisations would be greatly appreciated.
